The Herbstsend in Münster is an important folk festival that takes place three times a year on the Schlossplatz and attracts up to one million visitors every year. The name “Send” is derived from “Synode”, an assembly of the clergy and leading representatives of the diocese, which has been held twice a year since the 9th century.
Originally, the Send was not just a fun festival, but developed over the centuries into one of the most popular folk festivals in the region. The fairground, picturesquely situated in front of Münster Castle, is easily accessible and provides an impressive backdrop for the colorful hustle and bustle.
Diverse attractions: The Herbstsend offers a wide range of rides, from high-tech attractions to classics such as the Ferris wheel and the bumper car to nostalgic and modern show rides. There is something for every taste.
Family Day: Every Thursday, the Family Day attracts visitors with a 30% discount on all rides and amusement rides - a highlight for families with children.
Fireworks: A special spectacle is the big fireworks display that lights up the sky over Münster at around 9 pm in spring and fall.
Remarkable history: At the turn of the century, the historic sword from 1578 was stolen during the Autumn Festival. Since then, a reproduction of the original has been hanging in the historic town hall. A reward of 1,000 euros has been offered for the return of the sword.
