National Day of Prayer in Ukraine

On February 12, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution establishing the National Day of Prayer, which will be celebrated annually on February 24. The legislative initiative No. 12412 was supported by 255 votes of MPs.

This day is dedicated to the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to the resolution, the National Day of Prayer should become an important step in preserving the spiritual unity of the country, strengthening the patriotic spirit and promoting the consolidation of Ukrainian society.

On this day, the Verkhovna Rada will hold a session, which will begin with the performance of the national anthem of Ukraine “God is Great, One”. This will become a symbol of the unity and spiritual strength of the nation.

The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to develop a comprehensive action plan by May 12, 2025. It will include cooperation with the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations to organize celebrations at the state level. The regional and Kyiv city state administrations should ensure the preparation and holding of relevant events in the regions.

The initiative aims not only to pray for the victory and restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity, but also to emphasize the importance of spiritual unity in difficult times. This day will become a symbol of patriotism and national dignity.
