Unges Pengste in Korschenbroich

Unges Pengste is a historic and nationally important shooting and local festival in Korschenbroich on the left bank of the Lower Rhine. The name comes from the Southern Low Franconian and means “Our Whitsun”. This festival has a centuries-old tradition dating back to the late Middle Ages.

Highlights and special features:

The festival lasts five days, from Whit Saturday to Whit Wednesday, and attracts around 30,000 visitors every year.

There are impressive parades with around 1,000 marksmen and 350 musicians. The cavalcades of the St. Sebastianus and St. Katharina shooting fraternities are particularly worth seeing.

The flower parade with 30 flower horns and the flag wavers are further highlights.

Church events such as processions and a solemn open-air high mass are also included.

Music and dance events as well as the royal balls take place in the large marquee, where the festively dressed majesties and their ladies take center stage.

This festival combines tradition, community and joy and is a real highlight of the region.
