The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival has long been more than just a music festival - it is a cultural phenomenon that characterizes the festival season in golden Southern California. The first event took place in 1999 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and featured headliners such as Rage Against the Machine and Beck. Although this premiere did not achieve the hoped-for success due to financial difficulties, it laid the foundation for an event that has continued to evolve. As early as 2001, Coachella returned in a new form - initially as a one-day event, before being expanded to a two-day format in the following years. It was later expanded to three days (from 2010) and finally to a six-day event spread over two consecutive weekends.

A major highlight of Coachella is its outstanding, cross-genre selection of music. The festival boasts a diverse mix of established stars - such as Madonna, Jay-Z, Paul McCartney, Beyoncé, Harry Styles, Megan Thee Stallion and Bad Bunny - as well as innovative, often up-and-coming acts, some of which were still undiscovered in the mainstream media. This combination of icons and indie bands has made Coachella a springboard for artists and has repeatedly enabled spectacular reunion performances. In addition to the music, Coachella is also famous for its impressive art installations (such as the "Colossal Cacti" by Office Kovacs), which often set completely new visual impulses, and for culinary highlights that offer visitors a holistic festival experience.

Other special features of the festival are its distinctive ambience and its influence on fashion, lifestyle and brand presence. The desert backdrop in Indio, paired with the clear, open atmosphere, gives the event an almost mythical character - a feeling of freedom, adventure and cultural avant-garde that finds followers worldwide. The often experimental and fresh line-up also plays a key role in this: hardly any two years are the same, making Coachella synonymous with constant innovation in the music and art scene. In addition, the festival has made a significant contribution to the fact that the term “festival” is now closely associated with trends, creativity and a special attitude to life.
