World Riesling Day
World Riesling Day is held on March 13. The First Annual Riesling Birthday was celebrated in 2019. This event in the second decade of the month march is annual.
The date references the first written evidence of the Riesling grape: an invoice dated March 13, 1435. Found in cellar log located in Rüsselsheim, just east of the Rheingau region, the document invoices Count John IV of Katzenelnbogen for six vines of Riesling planted in the vineyard of a local winery. Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Riesling! Wines of Germany announced that March 13 will henceforth be known as the official birthday of Riesling.
