Located off the southeast coast of Africa, Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world, yet there’s still so much unknown about the mysterious location. It has been the inspiration for many documentaries and films over the years and is arguably one of the most unique and interesting locations on Earth.
Madagascar split from India 88 million years ago following its initial separation from Gondwana the supercontinent (which included Africa, South America, Antarctica, and Australia) approximately 165 million years ago. That separation has resulted in fauna and flora found nowhere else on the planet.
