The Ohio Association of Free Clinics (OAFC) exists to educate and equip free clinics in planning and delivering quality health care for the underserved. OAFC advocates on behalf of Ohio’s free clinics and the people they serve. OAFC is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization with 51 member clinics. They do not provide direct health care services on-site, but support those clinics that do, also provide referrals to a health clinic for those seeking care.
The month of December is designated as "Free Clinic Appreciation Month." (ORC 5.252 Free Clinic Appreciation Month. Added by 130th General Assembly File No. TBD, HB 320, §1, eff. 3/23/2015.)
Free clinics are nonprofit organizations that use volunteer health professionals to provide free or affordable health care to uninsured persons. Free clinics provide a safety net and are an essential part of health care system.
