Lāčplēsis Day in honor of the victory over the Bermontians in the Battle of Riga in 1919. "Lāčplēsis" is the image of the main Latvian hero of the epic, recreated by Andrejs Pumpurs on the basis of folk lore and published, after 15 years of work, in 1888. He embodies the greatness of the people and their heroism.
