The People's Revolutionary Government (PRG) was proclaimed on March 13, 1979 after the New Jewel Movement (NJM) seized power in the Caribbean island of Grenada.
The most diverse international commentaries agreed that the preparation of the March 13 action was sufficiently careful, prudent and effective, as befits good revolutionaries. Those of the New Jewel Movement were capable of secretly preparing a small army, without falling into any suspicion during the six years of the process, during which only one military action had to be carried out: the definitive one of March 13, 1979, the day of the triumph of the revolution. It was possible to channel all the moments of collective indignation without responding with armed actions to the brutal repression of the dictator (case of January 21, 1974, called "Bloody Monday", where Rupert Bishop, Maurice's father, died).
