Saint George (died 23 April 303), also George of Lydda, was a Christian who is venerated as a saint in Christianity. In Georgia, unlike other Orthodox countries, St. George's Day (Giorgoba) is celebrated twice a year - on November 23 and May 6. The cult of St. George dates back to the IV century in Georgia.
Historically, the countries of England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Catalonia and Aragon in Spain, and other have claimed George as their patron saint, as have several other regions, cities, universities, professions and organizations. St. George went down in the history of the church as a mighty, celestial rider. He is considered the patron saint of horsemen, farmers, shepherds and travelers.
