11 November - Civil Service Day in Poland
Civil Service Day (Dzień Służby Cywilnej) - a customary Polish holiday celebrated annually on November 11 since 2000 on the National Independence Day in order to emphasize the importance of the role of the civil service and state administration.
The custom of celebrating this holiday was not preceded by a special legal act. The choice of the date of the celebrations resulted from the recognition by the then management of the Civil Service Office, which was to state that "the work performed by members of the civil service corps is of service to the independent, democratic Polish State".
The date is not accidental: November 11 is a symbolic date of independence in 1918. Poland began to rebuild the independent structure of statehood with the administration, and the commencement of activities by the civil service was the first signal (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland No. 21, item 164) that "Poland is one organism whose heart is a thriving government administration".
The Day celebrations are also organized by the Provincial Military Staffs and the Police for civilian employees.
The Day of Civil Employees has been celebrated in the Police since 2009.
The celebrations are an opportunity to honor employees for their reliable work and contributing to better work of government administration offices in the country.
