National African American Parent Involvement Day
National African American Parent Involvement Day is held on February 9. Second monday of february - NAAPID is a day for all parents to come to their child's school, see what their day is like and to support their child's educational future. This event in the first decade of the month February is annual.

African-American parents have many positive attributes and resources that differ from school-centric definitions of parent involvement, such as: supportive people in their social networks willing to help them with matters pertaining to their children’s education; advocacy by individuals from churches and community groups for their children; childcare for siblings by friends and agencies while visiting the school; adults in their community willing to support them psychologically; assistance in obtaining educational books, resources, and school supplies; access to supplemental educational activities based outside of their children’s school in the communities in which they reside; and medical and mental health services in their communities.
