The Day of the Goalkeeper is celebrated on June 12 in Argentina because on that day, but in 1926, Amadeo Carrizo was born, one of the great icons of River and Argentine soccer history, who died on March 20, 2020.
In order to pay tribute to one of the most emblematic Argentine goalkeepers, such as Carrizo, the Argentine Senate established in 2011 the day of his birth as the Day of the Goalkeeper.
