Today, June 24, St. John's Day in the department of Tolima, the Tolimense Tamale Day is also celebrated in Ibagué. This activity takes place as a tribute to this exquisite and traditional dish, within the framework of the Colombian Folkloric Festival.
Traditionally, the tamale is accompanied with hot chocolate, bread and white corn arepa. Its characteristics and particular flavor differentiate it from typical dishes from other regions of the country.
