On June 26th of each year, Mexico celebrates the Day of the Pedagogue (Día del Pedagogo) and serves as an opportunity to remember the importance of these professionals to contribute to the education of the country and the construction of a better society. Pedagogy is the comprehensive study of education to describe, understand, explain, evaluate and intervene in the strengthening and improvement of educational processes, analyze and propose alternative solutions to problems related to the educational field, in addition to serving various sectors of the population that require pedagogical assistance. Until 1955, Pedagogy was only studied as a postgraduate degree at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at UNAM, the same date when the College of Pedagogy was created. The bachelor's degree began at UNAM with the 1960 plan and the National Pedagogical University began to operate in 1978.
