International Cocoa Day

International Cocoa Day celebrates one of the world's most wholesome and nutritious foods, as well as a source of health and pleasure. Cocoa is the tropical fruit of the cocoa tree, whose scientific name is Theobroma Cacao. In Greek it means "food of the gods. We invite you to learn a little more about this noble fruit.

On a day like today, July 7th 2010, the International Cocoa Producers Organization and the French Academy of Master Chocolate-makers and Confectioners took the initiative to celebrate its properties and benefits.

Cocoa contains nutrients such as fiber, protein, carbohydrates and minerals that promote cell and tissue renewal. It also has antioxidant properties that help lower cholesterol, stress and blood pressure.
