The Upper House pays tribute to the Martyrs of the Revolution of October 6, 1810.
The full Senate approved a Chamber Declaration that pays a just and well-deserved tribute to the Martyrs of the Revolution of October 6, 1810, for their invaluable contribution to the liberation of Bolivia from the Spanish colonial yoke.
October 6, 1810 is a fundamental historical milestone for the struggle for freedom in continent, since Oruro rose up in arms against the Spanish crown.
On the evening of October 6, 1810, under the leadership of Tomás Barrón, the people of Oruro revolted against the Spanish rule, determining by popular council the formation of a local government governed by the leader of that revolutionary movement.
Volunteers from Oruro led by Tomás Barrón joined the troops from Cochabamba led by Esteban Arce to form the first libertarian army of Alto Perú, which triumphed over the forces of the Spanish royalist army in the battle of Aroma.
