National Culture Day in Argentina

In 1982, a presidential decree established July 29 as the National Culture Day, in commemoration of Ricardo Rojas' death in 1957.

"Ricardo Rojas represents very singularly, in his multifaceted and deep intellectual personality, diverse cultural manifestations and embodies an Argentine concern to preserve and disseminate the characteristics of the national culture. The first National Congress of Culture Directors of Argentina, held in Buenos Aires in September 1957, chose his figure as a man of the interior, defender of the national essence and promoter of letters, arts and sciences, evoking his memory as a guideline in its deliberations", - the document narrated.
