Since August 11, 1813, Antioquia with its 125 municipalities, celebrates its independence from the Spanish crown, more than 200 years ago, extolling the Antioquian culture, unstoppable development and innovation, the strength of its people and a great sense of belonging.
Given the circumstances of the country after the events of July 20, 1810, when the Grito Rebellion occurred, the situations of the department when the councils that adopted the constitution of 1812 were established, and the Spanish Reconquista, commanded by Pablo Morillo, Peacemaker, from Venezuela and Juan de Samano from the south, they managed to make it through the hard way.
