September 16 was declared the day of the rights of high school students in commemoration of the night of the pencils. And undoubtedly, as a tribute, this day became a day of reflection.
The Night of the Pencils is the name given to a series of kidnappings and murders of high school students that took place during the night of September 16, 1976 and subsequent days in the city of La Plata, capital of the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Many say that Pencil Night happened for a reason, but because the students wanted to change the world, and today every memory of them gives hope to young people who are no longer there, but above all it allows Argentines to remember the importance of NEVER AGAIN. Never again will there be undemocratic governments and never again will young people be put at risk for fighting for their rights.
