The departments of Santa Cruz and Pando celebrate their anniversary on the road to Bolivia's economic recovery.
On September 24, 1938, the Department of Pando was created in memory of the former President of Bolivia, General José Manuel Pando, and as a just tribute of admiration and respect for having been one of the main patriots who explored the entire Bolivian northwest and ordered Colonel Enrique Cornejo to found a city near the Acre River.
This Colonel fulfilling this order, founded on February 9, 1906, the city of Cobija on the banks of the Acre River known as the "Pearl of Acre" bordering Brazil. The National Convention established by Law of September 24, 1938 the creation of this Department. This creation is due to the courageous Colonel German Busch, President of Bolivia, with his spirit of progress and with a view to better destinations and thus avoid the frequent Brazilian excursions.
The Anniversary of Santa Cruz is celebrated every September 24 on the occasion of the libertarian cry of 1810, remembering the movement that broke out.
