Every October 7 is celebrated the Day of Our Lady of the Rosary and the date is one of the most important in the Catholic religion.
Although there is no evidence to prove it, the history of this day dates back to 1208, when the Virgin Mary appeared to Dominic of Guzman in a monastery in France.
With a rosary in her hands, the Virgin showed him how to pray, entrusted him with the task of spreading the teaching and also shared a series of promises.
Some time later, around the 15th century, the Virgin appeared again, this time to Alan of Rupe and repeated the same thing, as a consequence of what was considered a decline in devotion to the rosary.
As had happened with the Battle of Muret, the triumph of the Catholic forces in the Battle of Lepanto (October 7, 1578) was attributed to the Virgin of the Rosary.
For this reason, Pope Pius V promoted that October 7 marked, in the liturgical calendar, the celebration of the Day of Our Lady of the Rosary, which at first was known by the name of "Our Lady of Victories".
Later, Leo XIII, whose pontificate took place between 1878 and 1903, determined that the whole month of October be consecrated to Our Lady of the Rosary.
