The school librarian, who is responsible for maintaining an orderly collection of books to make it easier to find the right and needed ones, has important moral values. The librarian's role is inextricably linked to the origin of the book as a cultural product that contains the record of knowledge and as a means of long-term communication.
Today in Venezuela is School Librarian's Day, in memory of the creation of the National Academy of History Library on October 28, 1888. Likewise, in homage to the anniversary date of the birth of Mariano Moreno, creator of the first public library, currently the Instituto Autónomo Biblioteca Nacional y de Servicios de Bibliotecas, on a day like today in the year 1888, the work of those who are in charge of treasuring bibliographic and non-librarian collections is recognized.
