The Musician's Day is celebrated on November 22, to celebrate all those who in one way or another are related to and know about music. The date commemorates the death of St. Cecilia, a half-legendary character, martyr of Christianity and patron saint of musicians.
Some sources mention that it is due to the paintings of painters of the 15th century the fact that St. Cecilia is linked to music, since they showed her playing the harp and other instruments.
This celebration began on November 22 with a celebration held in the French town of Evreux (Normandy), with a tournament of composers. Since 1695 the Musician's Day began to be celebrated in Edinburgh (Scotland) with certain regularity. Later, Germany, Spain and France also did so. In Latin America this tradition of celebrating a festival began in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) between 1919 and 1920, and spread to the rest of America.
