Firefighters play an important role in society in case of emergencies. Due to their outstanding work, in Peru, every December 5th is celebrated the National Day of the Volunteer Firefighter.
This date is related to the oldest fire station in Peru: the "Unión Chalaca Nº1″, located in the port of Callao and founded on December 5, 1860.
Seeking to commemorate the founding of this company, December 5th was established as the Volunteer Firefighter Day, which also pays tribute to the work done by these people, risking their lives to save the lives of others.
