King Maximilian I gave the go-ahead for the festival in 1812 as an agricultural festival. It has borne the name "Gäubodenvolksfest" since 1949 and has been reliably celebrated every year since 1962. The festival offers a funfair with seven marquees, exciting rides and an impressive agricultural show, the Ostbayernschau.
Since 2012, there has also been a nostalgic area with historical rides and attractions. The eleven-day festival begins on the Friday before Assumption Day, August 15, and is heralded by an impressive parade. Look forward to fun, tradition and unforgettable experiences at the Gäubodenfest in Straubing!
