MoGo or motorcycle service in Hamburg's Michel church

The MOGO Hamburg is the largest motorcycle church service in Europe and probably even worldwide with up to 30,000 visitors. Back in 1983, the aim was to break down prejudices. "Back then, it was said that all bikers are rockers."

In 1983, the then pastor for the police in Hamburg, Reinhold Hintze, organized the first church service for bikers in the Michel. The idea for this motorcycle service was based on the pastor's pastoral care experience with motorcycle-riding police officers. He was also interested in a new beginning for the partnership between bikers and the police.

The word MOGO was created in 1996 as an abbreviation and working term in the Hamburg motorcycle service team.

The "MOGO Hamburg in der Nordkirche e.V.", or MOGO for short, is a non-profit association that organizes the traditional Hamburg motorcycle service. It is also committed to social cohesion in our society and church work with its open and inviting offers. The members stand up for Christian values and see themselves as part of the ecumenical movement. Tolerance and respect for one another are important cornerstones of this.
