The Mecca for metal, goth, medieval and dark wave fans has started at the airfield in Hildesheim-Drispenstedt. The M'era Luna Festival has been a music festival in Hildesheim since 2000. With consistent visitor numbers of around 25,000 people, it is one of the largest festivals in the alternative music and black scene alongside the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig. The black scene emerged in the late 1980s from the dark wave and independent scene.
M'era Luna takes place annually on the second weekend in August at the airfield in Hildesheim. The festival has developed into one of the biggest meeting places for lovers of gothic rock, darkwave, industrial and related genres. The atmosphere on the festival grounds is characterized by a unique mixture of dark and festive elements.
The line-up includes both internationally renowned artists and up-and-coming talent.
