The Karl May Festival in Radebeul is an annual event that brings the Wild West and the fascinating world of author Karl May to life.
Radebeul is a large district town in the west of Dresden with significant industrial production of its own. The villa town, known for its wine-growing and Karl May, is well connected to Dresden's public transport network. In the recent past, Radebeul became known nationwide as the "Saxon Nice" and made a name for itself as the region with the highest income in the new federal states.
For 30 years, Radebeul has been transformed into the Wild West: every year in May, the Karl May Festival is celebrated in Lößnitzgrund. It all kicks off on Ascension Day with the traditional country morning pint. Numerous reenactment enthusiasts in historical costumes create a special atmosphere.
Encounter with indigenous people: Visitors have the chance to meet real role models from the White Mountain Apache Tribe from Arizona and experience their dances.
Star Rider Parade: The highlight of the festival, when the Meißner Straße belongs to the star riders with their decked-out steeds.
