The Lighthouse Swim - Open Water Kiel is an annual open water swimming event that invites swimmers to swim for the protection of the oceans.
Goals: The event is committed to marine conservation and aims to set an example for the preservation of the unique marine habitat.
History: The event took place for the first time in August 2021 and has since become a major event in the region. The date of the event is subject to change, for example in 2023 and 2024 the event was planned for the second Saturday in July. Please check with the organizer.
Tracks: Participants can choose between two swim routes - the 14 km fjord track or the 4 km beach track.
The event has been praised for its contribution to sustainability and initiatives such as the Maritime Litter Cleanup, which aims to rid waters of plastic waste, oil and chemicals.
The Lighthouse Swim is more than just a swimming competition; it is a movement that highlights the importance of marine conservation and inspires the community to take action.
