The euro-scene Leipzig Festival was founded in 1991 by theater scholar Matthias Renner and takes place annually at the beginning of November. The euro-scene Leipzig is organized by the association euro-scene Leipzig e. V.. The euro-scene Leipzig is institutionally supported by the City of Leipzig, Cultural Office and the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism. It is co-financed by tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
Over the course of six days, the festival presents 12 to 14 dance and theater pieces from and about Europe and its global interdependencies. The event has developed into an important meeting place for contemporary theater and modern dance. It is one of the cultural highlights of the city of Leipzig.
