The Sommerbend in Aachen is a popular folk festival. Origin: The Sommerbend in Aachen has a long tradition and is an annual folk festival that has been held since the 19th century. The Sommerbend originated from the Bendfest, which was originally a church festival. It was celebrated in honor of Saint Pontianus and took place on the Bendplatz. Over time, the Bendfest developed into a larger public festival. Rides, stalls and entertainment were added. The name changed from "Bendfest" to "Sommerbend".
You can enjoy the smell of roasted almonds and candy floss while enjoying the fast-paced rides. It's fun for young and old! The popular Bendtaler are of course valid again at the Öcher Bend.
Accessibility: The Eurogress Aachen, the organizer of the Öcher Bend, attaches great importance to accessibility. There are barrier-free entrances at entrances A, B and C, wide walkways for wheelchair users and baby carriages as well as designated parking spaces near the festival grounds. Staff are on hand to provide assistance if required.
