The Zerbst home and marksmen's festival is the longest folk festival in Saxony-Anhalt. The celebration lasts about a month.
The Zerbst Home and Marksmen's Festival has several traditional elements: a colorful parade in which the marksmen parade through the town in historical uniforms. This parade symbolizes the solidarity with the town and the preservation of traditions. During the festival, a shooting king and queen are crowned. They represent the community and have special duties during the festival. A shooting competition in which the best marksmen win prizes. This is an old tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. A lottery with attractive prizes. The proceeds often go to charity.
