The Jacobimarkt in Neugersdorf is the largest annual folk festival in Upper Lusatia. It takes place every year around St. Jacob's Day (Jacobustag) on July 25 and usually lasts 6 days (from Friday to Wednesday). More than 200,000 visitors flock to this festival, which is organized by around 350 showmen and traders.
Rides: There is a variety of rides such as the Project 1 high ride, the Ferris wheel, the Break Dance, the bumper cars, the giant slide, the virtual reality cinema, the Melodie Star, the Family Coaster, the NoLimit, the Fly Over by Piontek and the Flyover by Nachtigall.
Fun for children: The little ones will also get their money's worth with children's carousels, trampolines, duck fishing, raffles and much more.
Culinary delights: Numerous snack and food stands offer local and Czech specialties.
The Jacobimarkt has a long tradition and dates back to the Middle Ages. The Jacobimarkt originated in the 14th century and was first mentioned in a document in 1384. Despite many changes and historical events, the Jacobimarkt has remained an integral part of cultural life in Upper Lusatia to this day.
Nowadays, the Jacobimarkt is a colorful folk festival with rides, stalls, music and good cheer. It is an opportunity for people to meet, celebrate and cultivate tradition.
