The Sparrenburgfest in Bielefeld is an annual festival that takes place on the last weekend in July at the Sparrenburg, a castle dating back to the 13th century. The Sparrenburgfest has a long tradition and dates back to 1951. Back then, it was celebrated for the first time to mark the 700th anniversary of the castle. Since then, the festival has developed into one of the most popular festivals in Bielefeld and attracts thousands of visitors from the region and beyond every year. The festival transforms the castle into a medieval setting with numerous activities, live music and delicious food.
