Freimarkt Bremen

The Freimarkt in Bremen is not only one of the oldest folk festivals in Germany, but also a real highlight for young and old. Back then, King Arnulf granted the Archbishop of Bremen the right to hold a market - the foundation stone for what has now developed into a celebration steeped in tradition.

A long history: the first documentary mention of the Freimarkt dates back to October 16, 1035. Since then, the festival has developed steadily and is now a firm fixture in Bremen's calendar of events. In the meantime, the Freimarkt has developed into one of the largest and most important folk festivals in the country.

Attractions for all ages: With around 50 rides, the Freimarkt offers an impressive selection of attractions that provide thrills and excitement for young and old alike. From fast-paced rollercoasters to leisurely carousels - there is something for every taste.

A magnet for visitors: every year, the Freimarkt attracts around four million visitors from near and far. The long tradition and the multitude of attractions make the festival an incomparable experience that attracts people from all over the world.

Duration and festivities: The colorful hustle and bustle extends over 17 days and traditionally takes place in the last two weeks of October. During this time, Bremen is transformed into a lively fairground characterized by the atmosphere of the “fifth season”.
