The Palmkirmes in Recklinghausen is an annual highlight and the largest spring fair in North Rhine-Westphalia. It traditionally marks the start of the funfair season and attracts around one million visitors.
With over 600 years of history, the Palmkirmes is a real traditional festival. It has always taken place on the Saatbruch grounds in Recklinghausen and always ends on Palm Sunday. The opening is celebrated with a barrel tapping ceremony by the mayor, followed by an impressive musical firework display on Thursday evening.
A special highlight of the funfair is the family day, when special offers and discounts are available for families. On Children's Day, young guests can meet their favorite stars and take part in exciting activities.
On the opening day, there is free admission to all rides for 15 minutes, which is an additional source of excitement. The varied program includes exciting rides, traditional stalls with candy floss and can throwing as well as many other attractions.
