In the Dominican Republic, Teachers' Day was set on June 30 to honor the birthday of Professor Juan Bosch Gavino, who was one of the most famous writers of the day. This date was formalized by Decree No. 6-39 of June 6, 1939, when Virgilio Diaz was Secretary of State for Justice, Public Education and Fine Arts.
On this day, teachers are honored for their important work and the efforts they make every day, doing their best in the classrooms of schools and learning centers, teaching men and women who are preparing to live and serve in the Dominican Republic.
