Thai is spoken by around 40 million speakers across the world. Thai is a Tai language and is sometimes referred to as Siamese. Thai is the official and national language of Thailand. The first occurrence of written Thai language is assumed to be a stone inscription date 1292 AD.
Written Thai was introduced in 1283 by the third Sukothai period king, Ramkamhaeng. Modern-day Thai people are still able to read the original language from 100s of years ago because it hasn't seen many changes since its inception.
