1 August - Yorkshire Day
The Yorkshire Dales encompasses 680 square miles and is home to outstanding scenery, great castles, abbeys and a breathtakingly peaceful atmosphere. North Yorkshire is the biggest county in the UK. They are visited by around eight million tourists a year because of their stunning tranquility and natural beauty.
Yorkshire was the ‘birthplace’ of club football - in a manner of speaking - and is home to the world’s oldest existing (and still running) football club, Sheffield F.C.
The first day of August is Yorkshire Day, when we all thank the lord for giving us gifts like Yorkshire puddings and Yorkshire Tea.
