This date celebrates the activity carried out by Brazilian Army soldiers, who work and fight for the protection of the Nation.
In 1923, on August 25, Soldier's Day began to be celebrated in honor of Marshal Luís Alves de Lima e Silva, better known as Duque de Caxias, and who became the patron of the Brazilian Army. After Brazil's victory in the Paraguayan War, he won the title of Duke in 1869. Duque de Caxias died on May 7, 1880 in Rio de Janeiro.
