Melioration Day in Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Health is responsible for water-related epidemiological and other public health issues; whereas water irrigation is covered by the Agency for Amelioration of Water Resources. Given the transboundary origin of Azerbaijan’s principal rivers (Aras, Kura, and Samur), the support by the development partner community (e.g., European Union, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and United States Agency for International Development) for improving cross-border collaborative approaches to these rivers’ management has a sound basis, although its effectiveness may have temporarily stopped increasing.
