Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya’s birthday September 15 is celebrated as Engineer’s Day not only in India but also in Sri Lanka and Tanzania in his memory. Sir MV received India’s highest honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955. India observes Engineer's Day on September 15 as a mark of remembrance and tribute to Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, who is considered as one of the greatest engineers in the country. He published several books among which his most notable works are Reconstructing India and Planned Economy for India.
