The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation promotes the sustainable productive and commercial development of agricultural products, their access to the national and international market and the supply of national agricultural products with added value in a competitive and sustainable manner.
Peru is the main center of origin of the potato, a tuber that is more than 7,000 years old, it was a fundamental food in the development of pre-Inca and Inca cultures and plays an important role as a nutritious food that contributes to food security.
In 2005 and in coordination with the representative producers, May 30 of each year was established as National Potato Day.
