Officially Teachers' Day is celebrated in most of the schools on 6 October. Nowhere does the quality of a school system exceed the quality of its teachers.
Sri Lanka has already established some of the key features of the best performing school systems. Teacher recruitments through National Colleges of Education and Departments of Education in universities are similar to the way teachers are recruited in the best performing countries. The education system in Sri Lanka can learn from some of the best practices of the best performing school systems.
