Christmas Eve is the Christian celebration of the night Jesus was born, the night of December 24, the eve of Christmas Day (December 25). Although customs vary from country to country, a family gathering for dinner and the exchange of gifts is quite common. It is considered a cultural and family holiday, since families also gather together even if there is no religious celebration. Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate this holiday because they consider it to be of pagan origin. It should not be confused with the Hanukkah celebration of the Jewish religion, which celebrates the Miracle of Light (gifts, lights and candles) and coincides at the same time.
