It is often said that Norwegians have the world's longest Easter holiday, and it is true - well worth mentioning together with Iceland and Denmark.
In Norwegian, easter is known as påske. The period begins with Palm Sunday, known as palmesøndag. The public holidays Maundy Thursday (skjærtorsdag) and Good Friday (langfredag) come a few days later. Some countries have a day off either Maundy Thursday or the 2nd.
A number of countries have either Maundy Thursday or Easter Monday off in addition to Good Friday, but few have all these days off.
The shortest is the "Easter holiday" in the USA where they have a completely normal weekend, without any public holidays. However, some stores close on Easter Sunday due to low turnover. In addition, some states have Good Friday off.
Also in other countries, such as Australia and France, there are individual differences between regions when it comes to holidays at Easter.
