The center of the celebration is the Valladolid town of Villalar de los Comuneros, a place where the anniversary of the Battle of Villalar is commemorated, the decisive battle of the War of the Communities of Castile that ended on April 23, 1521 with the beheading of the three community leaders: Juan de Padilla, Juan Bravo and Francisco Maldonado.
