Grandparents' Day is a commemorative day dedicated to the elderly in the family, which complements Mother's Day and Father's Day, in which one of the most important, endearing and influential figures in the family nucleus is honored. This day is celebrated only in some countries, with differences in the denomination, motivation and date. In some Christian countries, July 26 has been chosen as the day on which the Catholic liturgy commemorates St. Joachim and St. Anne, parents of the Virgin Mary and, therefore, grandparents of Jesus.
Spain, for its part, celebrates Grandparents' Day every July 26, a date also shared by countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Cuba.
