We congratulate the Archival community that is in the sister Republic of El Salvador.
The Historical Archive was founded at the University of El Salvador on June 1, 1915, by executive order. In its beginnings, its care was attributed to the Rectory. The archive worked in the center of San Salvador, until the 1955 fire that destroyed part of the documentation. The recovered information was transferred to the General Archive of the Nation. LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY - REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR, DECREE No. 7 (June 28, 1974): "In compliance with that provision, the aforementioned Association has been continuously celebrating said date as "ARCHIVIST'S DAY", since 1960."
The Ministry of Culture celebrates the day of salvadoran archivists with a cycle of webinars on what document management implies, in order to broaden the knowledge of the participants.
International Librarian's Day is celebrated on July 10. International Archives Day is June 9.
